mommy moments

I can't believe I'm coming up on nearly two months of being a mama.  Seriously, where has the time gone? A friend recently asked me how it was being at home and if I was bored...ha ha! It's been quite the contrary so far. My days seem to fly by and I don't even know where the time goes. This has definitely been a good opportunity for me to slow down the pace a bit and truly savor the moment rather than trying to do it all.  And I must say, it's been difficult at times to allow myself to do that without feeling guilty that I'm not doing more.

I'm just now starting to juggle life at home, which includes cooking, cleaning AND taking care of my precious girl. I thought I would just share some of my most favorite moments each day...

  • Snuggles with London: After the much loved 'milk coma' [when she's completely passed out from having a full belly], London likes to curl up in a little ball and rest her head on her arms against my chest. I have to admit, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! It's something about knowing that I've taken care of my daughter and that she finds such comfort laying on her mama.
  • With the sleep deprivation that comes with having a newborn, it's pretty difficult to find devotional time with the Lord.  Much to my surprise, the wee hours, as in 3am & 4am have become perfect for this.  Prior to giving birth, I didn't really come up with a game plan on when and how devotional time would happen, but it kind of formed on its own. Oh, how my soul needs this time!
  • Recently, baby girl has been cooing quite often. I love to just watch her have a conversation with herself or mommy and daddy with such animation. The other day, we videotaped it for her Papa [my dad] and as we were watching it, she started cooing in response to the video. I think she got excited all over again. It's the cutest thing ever!
  • The list can go on and on, I promise, so I'll just leave you with this last one...I mentioned before that she is now starting to smile when she's awake.  Initially, it was when she first woke up in the morning [who did she get that from...definitely not me!], but now, it's when we come near her or when we talk to her. Her smile lights me up and has become one of my favorite things.
As you can see, this mama is completely smitten :)

one month photo

In lieu of my previous post, I thought I'd post a picture of our baby love at ONE month!

Just a caution: get ready for EXTREME CUTENESS (or at least her mama thinks so)!

the happenings of a ONE month old

I can't believe our baby girl is ONE MONTH old! The time has gone by so incredibly fast.

Life with a newborn has been absolutely amazing and challenging all in one! I must say the transition has gone remarkably well. London is a great sleeper and we have been averaging three to four hours with each stretch! We've had a few nights where she slept for only a couple of hours and I definitely can tell the difference. Our little lady is growing exponentially and seems to be more advanced than the average newborn and I'm not just saying that because she's my daughter.  She is an active one and loves to 'help' with everything, like diaper changes and feedings. The one problem I see with that is that she can't actually do anything just yet.  In addition to being a little assistant, she holds up her head and lifts it up too...AMAZING! I guess I should've known we would have a busy bee on our hands when I was pregnant since she was always bouncing around in my belly.

So to commemorate her one month birthday, here are a few of her favorite things:
  • Eating
  • Sleeping
  • Going potty
  • Weeks 1-3: Smiling in her sleep
  • As of week 3: Looking around and looking at you as she's held, smiling when she's awake
  • Falling asleep in your arms
  • Snuggling after she's fed
And here are few of her hated things:
    • The car seat
    • Being swaddled (as of week 4)
    • Car rides
    • Diaper changes
    • Being naked
Well that's all for now...mommy duty calls!

I apologize for the delay in posting, but as you can imagine we've been adjusting to our new family of three. London is absolutely perfect and things are going really well. I can't wait to share more about life these days as a mom!

    oh baby... 38 weeks!

It's been a couple of weeks since I've posted. I apologize to those of you who read my blog regularly! Life has been quite busy and has been moving along so fast! As of today, I only have 2 more days until my due date...TWO!  It's so crazy, surreal and exciting all wrapped into one!  Since I'm a little late on my bump photos, I thought I'd share photos from my 38th week!

At 38 weeks, shortly after our maternity photo shoot!

    good news!

I'm happy to report that Baby Love is head down as of my appointment yesterday!  Thank you all for your thoughts and means so much to me to know that you were all thinking and praying for us.  Last week, I scheduled an appointment with a chiropractor in hopes of getting baby to move. I canceled this appointment because as my doctor said, "we don't want to move her OUT of position!" No sir, we don't!!!

Please continue to pray that she stays head down as we approach her arrival!

    Thanks again :)

p.s. Stay tuned for a few belly photos to come...

a new outlook at 37 weeks

If you had spoken to me as I approached 37 weeks, you probably would have heard that I was counting down to this milestone.  You see, 37 weeks is the official green light in pregnancy that proclaims, "YOU'RE FULL TERM, YOU MAY NOW PASS GO!" I must admit, I was really excited about this week and was strongly encouraging Baby Love that it was A-OKAY to make her appearance sooner than later, just because she could!

As I sat in the doctor's office yesterday afternoon, my entire perspective quickly changed. I found out that despite being head down just a couple of weeks ago, Baby Love is now transverse.  For those of you who have no clue what that is...she's lying sideways in my belly. This position = no bueno for vaginal delivery [insert sad face].

So with this unexpected news, I am now very glad that I have 3 whole weeks to D-day so that she can get in the right position.  While the likelihood of this happening diminishes with each passing day, one thing I have on my side is the amount of amniotic fluid she's in.  There seems to be lots of it, which means baby girl is able to live it up a little more than the average Joe.

This mama over here has already started to seek out what can be done to get her movin'. I started doing some of the very awkward positions and will be making an appointment with a chiropractor very soon in hopes that he can work his magic.  I think these things mixed with prayer is a good combination for success!  I am starting to realize that whatever is best for baby will ultimately happen and all will be well in the end!

I would greatly appreciate your prayers in the next few weeks as we near the end of my pregnancy...thanks friends!

    dreaming of baby

Lately, the hubs and I have had some serious dreams about having our little girl! I'm not sure if it's wishful thinking, due date obsession, or if she'll really make her appearance sooner than later!  But one thing I know, is that it's fun to exchange stories and hear what the previous night had in store for both of us!

Last night,  I had a dream that I went to check out a childcare facility in my hometown since I was visiting family. The purpose of me going was to see how childcare in Bloomington stood in comparison to others. During my visit, so many things went wrong that I was compelled to go off on the employees and tell them that if I were a prospective client, I WOULD NOT send my child there. It didn't stop there, as my husband reminded me this morning, that I yelled out [very forcibly], "What I'm trying to say is..." and proceeded to fall back asleep.

I think what's even funnier is that I was able to recount the entire dream so passionately like it actually happened.  Let me assure you, my other dreams have been more pleasant and were directly related to Baby Love, but I couldn't resist sharing this one with you guys.

I'm just hoping that the dreams don't get any crazier than this as we await her arrival.

    Wish me luck, friends!

    to my sweet baby girl

    Dear Baby Love,

The time is winding down with 30 days until your due date... and your daddy and mommy couldn't be happier.  We hoped and prayed for you for quite some time and are so elated to be living in this very moment! Things are pretty much ready for you baby girl...all of the essentials are assembled and ready to go, your nursery is almost complete with your dresser and closet full of clothes, your crib fitted with a sheet and breathable bumper on it to make sure you'll be safe through the night, a glider in the corner for special times with mama and papa. Just a few cosmetic additions and it will be absolutely perfect.

Although you are getting rather big and it's becoming more and more uncomfortable for me to sleep and do simple things like walk without waddling, I am completely fine with you coming when you are ready. I want you to be fully developed in every way despite the temporary discomfort I'm experiencing; afterall, I'm not just living for myself anymore.

There's so much I can say right now, but I think I'll keep this one short. We cannot wait to see you, smell you, hold you and just be with you, our sweet Baby Love. You're such a blessing to our lives and you are loved by so many already! I hope every day you know just how much you are loved and how much of a treasure you are to the world!

    Counting down the days,

    oh baby...35 weeks!

It's been quite some time since I've posted a belly photo and some of you have reminded me of that [thanks guys]!  So, as promised, here is a photo as of yesterday at 35 weeks!

    5 weeks to go!!!

    our chunker

I'm happy to report that the mobile and decorations from our previous post are hanging...woo hoo! Last week, I figured it was a good time to take the tags off of all of her bibs and blankets and wash them. They smell lovely and it's so surreal that in just a few short weeks, she'll be wearing those bibs and will be wrapped in all of the adorable blankets! On a side note, I just love the way babies smell, don't you?

We had a doctor's appointment yesterday and it looks like we have a chunker on our hands! She's measuring at 6lbs, 10 ounces with about 5 weeks to go...yikes!  I've heard that there are times when the estimates are off and I'm hoping that this is one of those moments. Either way, she has a strong heartbeat and looks healthy, which in the end, is all this mama is concerned about. We even got to see her move it up a little bit since she is quite the active one, which was fun!

I'm feeling pretty good and trying to capitalize on how I feel by getting everything ready to go. This week, I plan to work on some more decorations for the nursery and start packing my bag for the hospital since I'll be full term in just two weeks [crazy]!  If I'm feeling up to it, I'll also try to get some things ready for the postpartum time. Since Baby Love is measuring ahead, there is a possibility that she may come sooner than later, although I'm not holding my breath. It will, however, give me peace of mind to know that everything is in order for the time she does decide to make her appearance!

    the projects are underway!

This past weekend was definitely an eventful one and most of it was geared toward working on projects for Baby Love's nursery. Thanks to one of my most beloved websites, Pinterest, I had a vision of what I wanted to do in the nursery. Sean and I aren't very creative, but I thought it would be fun to step outside our comfort zone and try to channel the creativity :)

Although, we are not completely done, here are some of the pics of the things we worked on this past weekend, as well as some furniture we've gotten in the past few months that is up and ready to go for Baby Love!

This is the day the crib arrived. We couldn't get over how large the box was!
I couldn't wait to see the crib assembled, so we stayed up until about 1am putting it together. Isn't it cute?!?
The beginnings of the crib mobile
    All finished

Another view of the completed mobile

    The swing

Here's my wonderful husband assembling the pom poms that will hang in a corner of the nursery. He was much better at putting these together than I was!

We were also able to paint and decorate each letter of the baby's name that will go above the crib. Since we're not sharing that until she's born, we'll have to wait to post photos of the letters! Despite the busy-ness of the weekend, I'm so excited to get everything hung and see what it looks like in it's place.

I think I've officially entered the "nesting" stage of pregnancy!

8 weeks to the estimated DUE date

First, I want to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! I hope that the 2011 Holiday season was time well spent with loved ones! The Warsaws had a great time spending time with family and friends! And, I can't believe it's already 2012!!!

Today marks the beginning of Week 32 and what that means for me is that I have just 8 weeks left until my estimated due date! I have tried to do a good job at not putting a lot of stock into my due date, unlike my husband [he is literally counting down the days], but it does really put things into perspective...the time is flying by and our baby girl will be here before we know it!

With each passing day, we get more and more excited to meet our little one. I'm not sure if it's intensified by the fact that she doesn't EVER cooperate when we have an ultrasound, so we have the hardest time seeing her little face. As Sean puts it, she gets shy on picture day :) But one thing I know for sure is that we're getting ready for her and are elated to see her soon, whether it be in February or March.

Since everyone tells us to really enjoy this time that we have, I will still continue to prepare for her, but will also try to enjoy all the things we currently take for granted as a married couple without kids.

I'll be sure to write a post or two on what I'm doing to enjoy my life as I currently know it!
